Tonight I’m at the Albany Common Council meeting and I’m little upset that not one of my council members reminded me that this is last meeting of the year…if you don’t know what that means, be happy. The last meeting of the year is when Ms. McLaughlin gives her self-promoting end of the year speech.
I’m timing it.
Ms. Kornegay decided she might outta rise for the Pledge of Allegiance….as she’s been sitting with her back to the flag for the last few meetings. Could she have been reprimanded? Who the heck knows….but her training as a rep of her people is going to take a while.
Interesting slip of the tongue, Ms. McLaughlin just said, “we have a new mirror, I mean “mayor.’”
Andres Rivera, citizen, addressed the council first to point out that his Commission, the Human Rights Commission is working for the City but was defunded in this year’s budget. Rivera also points out that he is disappointed with the lack of transparency in the “Mayor’s” budget. “She took it out and went all around town, claiming a transparent process, and it’s been changed three times through amendments since the time that she presented it to the citizens.” Mr. Rivera adds, his father, a resident of Albany for forty years, is leaving the City. “I know that you don’t care about that,” he adds, “but I do.”

Albany police are investigating a commercial robbery that occurred on New Scotland Avenue.
On Sunday December 14, 2014 at approximately 8:20 p.m., officers responded to Subway, located at 21 New Scotland Avenue, for a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, an employee told officers that a male suspect entered the store, implied that he had a handgun, and demanded money from the register. The employee complied and the suspect fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash.

Tonight Iam in a packed houise at the County Legislative Chamber…and I find it a little odd that the leadership scheduled the Health Committee meeting, Chaired by Legislator Nichols, in which there was one agenda item:
LOCAL LAW NO. “J” FOR 2014: A LOCAL LAW OF THE COUNTY OF ALBANY, NEW YORK PROTECTING INFANTS AND CHILDREN FROM HARMFUL HEALTH EFFECTS OF UNNECESSARY EXPOSURE TO TOXIC CHEMICALS
Judith Wing, of the League of Women Voters, comes to the mic to once again ask the County Legislature respect the Charter Review Commission’s recommendations. Yeah, that’s not gonna happen. I should join that LWV group.
Anita Thayer is up next in support of the afore-mentioned LLC-J and notes that the evil toxic toy peddlers are in the audience and she urges the County Legislature to pass LLJ so that the children in Albany will be safe. Next up is another speaker urging to ONLY permit safe toys in Albany County. The next speaker is with the “Toxic” Toys Industry and he cites the federal regulations pre-empt anything that the County does. He also points out that the National and International standards are enough and there are concerns on this legislation….so what’s new, we’re in Albany County.

Tonight I will be attending the Albany Common Council’s meeting for a variety of reasons….first, remember with me how transparent those silly progs called the Sheehan process…I must meant they meant in comparison to Jenning’s process (though that was mostly left unspoken.) Read about that meeting of Sheehan/prog blind adoration here.
Then, cast your eyes on the post budget passage “adjustments” below. How’s that for transparency?
RESOLUTION NUMBER 113.122.14R
RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL CONSENTING TO AN ADJUSTMENT IN SALARY FOR THE POSITION OF CITY CLERK
Increase salary for City Clerk by $7,000 (Budget line A.1410.7100)
Increase FICA based on City Clerk salary increase - $536

Now, where have we heard that term before? Here? yup.
Tonight I'm at the Albany Common Clownshow and I onlyh have an inch of an idea of what to expect. I've taken a different seat with a different view...I like watching "my clown" stutter.
The place is packed and the only thing I can tell is that there seems to have been a class assignment.
Someone named Rosilyn who is pleased with the "transparent" budget process...however, I haven't seen her at any of the meetings. Seems all the progs know her...she is dismayed at how the Coucil balked at the budget passage. Mr. Conti seems to know this script and has left the room.
The next speaker is Jonathan (8th ward). He is concerned about introduction of the Red Light cameras. Dominick is up next and it appears that this former Council member is in praise of the very public process of the Mayor. (Number two prog...I can't wait...there are so many planted progs in the audience that the scent is overwhelming. He is carrying the "leave the reassessment in the budget" water.
